The Bright and Hungry Future of Hawks by John Wiltshire

The deception he did in the name of love was some times to much to keep listening to but when I picked up where I left off I couldn’t stop listening to the rest of their story. Basically even with how much they were attuned to each other but didn’t know the first thing of who they really were. I think after I got half way though the series I did take a break to listen to another book only because I needed a break from these two men. Gary Furlong was so good with the narration and was able to hook you in. There 9 books and well worth the investment to listen to. Though I did notice the last book the chapters were a lot thinner. I was amazed that he is such a new author was able to express so much about these two men in so many books. When I was either on book 3 or 4 I decided to read John autobiography and looked him up to see if he wrote any other books. I’ve never read anything from this author John Wiltshire. When I want to listen to books I like to find the kind that have multiple books in the series either with multiple couples or just a life story about two people.

This series snagged me at the first book. Gary Furlong’s narration was so brilliant, it’s going to be hard to listen to other narrators without finding them lacking (except for Zane Daniels-he’s tied for The Best). But, I still can’t help wanting a taste of how Ben and Aleksy’s lives could play out now. I understand that all things must come to an end, even an epic series, and I know the author is probably ready to move on after this huge book. How does their intense lust for each other play out now? Their sexual bond should still be a hugely important piece of their lives and I felt it was glossed over in most of this book. It felt as though it was missing a chapter at the end. This last book was emotional and full of angst, as they all were, and I’m glad I read it, but I could have done with a bit less internal dialog/introspection and a bit more sexual dynamic.

The series could have ended after that book and I probably would’ve been happy. The last scene between Nik and Stefan will probably stick with me forever, as will the way Ben drew himself into Nik’s world and pulled them to each other by what he did after that. Ben and Nik have taken us on a dark, wild, action-packed ride. Normally, I actually do things while I’m listening to a book, but I was glued to the couch for most of this series, staring into space while I listened. I binge-listened to the whole series and my husband thought I was sick. I’ve loved this entire series (except for the one where Ben finds religion) and I was fortunate to have discovered it right before this one was released. Epic series with a little bit missing at the end
